On one of the clasps, I think it says "Worchester.Rockdale: I also have what I believe to be a 48 F5. Did Favilla use bone pins and do they look original?Ĩ. When changing the strings last night (used 12-53 and tuned down 1/2 step to be safe) I noticed the pins sound ceramic like.they are very discolored so it makes me think they are originals or at least replaced a very long time ago. Does the bridge look original? Did Favilla Guitars lacquer over them like this has been?ħ. Not that it matters to me, but it would be even more cool if it had BRW on the bridge and board.Ħ. Evidently Brazilian Rosewood was used on many old guitars. Does the neck have a truss rod? I couldn't find anywhere where I could adjust it if I felt necessary.ĥ. Can you tell from the pictures the age of the guitar? I don't imagine you can get me a manufacture year, but a time frame would be great.Ģ. Oh and I very much appreciate you offering your time and knowledge to answer questions like these to Favilla guitar owners and enthusiasts. The seller told me that he thought it was from the late 40s or early 50s, but since there is no serial number apparent, I cannot offer anything to help you date it. It is truly a gem found and I am so happy that I have saved $600-1600 from an old Martin or Guild that would have been in worse shape than this one. So, now I have this wonder playing, sounding, and feeling guitar. ![]() ![]() Contacted the seller and he agreed to meet me at 11pm last night!! I have never heard of the brand, but it looked exactly like what I have been after. I checked Craigslist one last time before getting ready for bed and a listing for your guitar came up. After driving 50 minutes one way, I found that it desperately needed a neck reset and needed many other repairs on top of what was already done to it. Last night, I went to go see a 1943 Martin 00-17 from a local seller. Every time I think I could win an auction the price skyrockets and becomes out of my range. I have been shopping for a 0, 00 Martin 17 or 20, 30 Guild M. Favilla himself, but haven't heard back yet - it's only been a week But if anyone here knows some answers, I will take them early!
